Wonders of blogs...

Comprehensive Catch-up
Yes, just had one of the most comprehensive catch-up with girlfriend, Woon who has been to many places. It took us less than half an hour because she's blogging too. Meet her at http://huiwoont.blogspot.com. We used to be coursemate, roommate, housemate, sometimes carpool-mate, cycling-mate. She used to think that Sarawakians exaggerate and lie a lot and play stupid pranks, or were they just Columbans. I still have the picture of her when she was sleeping. Huiwoon, is this something I can blackmail you with?

Re: Comprehensive Catch-up
Chee is the best matey you can get. I owe her my first culture shock in UTM, when someone pulled my bra during MHS. The glorious times when we zoomed past the rest of the coursemates on our bicycles. Blurt of crazy ideas that uniquely spring from her highly intelligent brain cells(and some actually realised). If the Woon you know now is a little quirky, weird or plain crazy at times, it's some of her bugs retaliating inside. Chee, keep them coming though. And I know I can find them at
http://mister-ray.blogspot.com/ ;)

p.s.: I discovered a lot of my close friends from uni are Sarawakians anyway ;)

p.p.s: Store the pic safely away, it should be worth blackmailing in 10 years time :D

Overwhelming sense of pride!

Man! Boy do I want to rush over to get a ticket to Penang this moment! As I told Jiin Joo a moment ago, I just want to see some crazy band members strutting their stuff, me shouting at the top of my lungs like crazy too, and then, the best part, sweating my pants off when they announce the results. (for readers out there, it is the National Marching Competition I am talking about)

Firebird? West Side Story? Gosh, those songs are not even easy playing them on a chair, needless to say, having which foot to accompany which beat to worry about!

Watching the video brings back major memories...there is still the few who seems to march off beat, the crowd still cheers at all the right moment, the occasional(a lot more frequent since my time) flawless transforming lines and curves, I still get worried when I see the drum major's maze go up in the air, my spirits soar high when I hear the countdown signal to start, I feel like swaying right left center during the static performance...all this enveloped with overwhelming pride and I feel like shouting out, "Hey! that is CHS band and I was once part of THAT!"

I went to the website (http://chsb.cjb.net/). I do not know any names there. I do not recognise anyone familar. The only thing recognisable are those under ACHIEVEMENTS. I scrolled to 1997, 1998, 1999....there, I belonged to that part of the history.

Shit! I AM SO DAMN PROUD OF THEM :)...I want to watch the video again and again. Gosh, are they having the competition live?!

15euros per day in Europe

Why is the title centered on money?
To know, let me illustrate it here:

Cold sandwiches: 2-3euros
Per night/person in youth hostel: 14-18euros
Train ticket (Florence to Rome) : 14.31 euros
Metro tickets, one way: 1-1.5euros

So there I was, on a trip with two other comrades, flinging ourselves with complete vulnerability into Europe. For the first time too, I made no detail research on the destinations, and especially how much everything cost. All I had was my backpack stuffed with maggi, nestum and crackers, my sleeping bag, a tent, 500euros and 30 days to ration all these.

Some may call it suicidal, some might applaud for our bravery. At a point when I was lieing on the streets of Venice, I scolded myself an idiot. :) Now sitting comfortably under a roof, I pat myself on the back, feeling glad I did it. I learnt that the more risks you take, the more likely you are to witness things and hence, calling everything a serendipity. It's a testament to the possibilities that arise when you remove yourself from the safety of familiarity and comforts; the benefits of vulnerability.

I welcome you to judge it for yourselves...;)
